A practising lawyer was on Friday sent to jail for seven days by the Delhi High Court for assaulting a woman colleague in an open court proceeding.

A practising lawyer was on Friday sent to jail for seven days by the Delhi High Court for assaulting a woman colleague in an open court proceeding.
The court also barred him from practising in the high court for two months after he pleaded guilty of the offence but asked him to render legal service during his custody period.
Taking cognisance of the oral complaint of the woman lawyer, the bench awarded the sentence saying the lawyer had committed professional misconduct and criminal contempt of court.
