Where does India stand in the global arena of fashion?

The Indian fashion industry is young and at a nascent stage, compared with international fashion standards. We are, however, making quick strides by consolidating the industry under one apex body. We have various designers showcasing their work at international fashion weeks, including those in Paris and London.

What is the international scope of this industry?

Indian fashion has already made its presence felt in the international arena. There are a number of buyers from the US, Europe and the Middle East. With time, Indian designers will create a niche for themselves internationally like they have already done in India.

What specific areas within the fashion industry are poised to get even bigger?

The current trend indicates that the luxury market has great growth potential. The 'lifestyle' segment is becoming stronger. ‘Pret’ has actually attained mass acceptance and is expected to grow bigger as well.
