This was revealed by her confidante and railway minister Mukul Roy in his interaction with reporters in the national capital soon after Mukherjee was sworn-in as the country's 13th president.

"Mamatadi has invited Pranab Mukherjee to visit West Bengal," Roy said.

When reminded that Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had already extended the first invitation to the new president, Roy said: "It is for the President to decide where to go first."

Banerjee had initially opposed Mukherjee's candidature for the presidency but changed her mind at the last minute to vote for him.
