The woman's body was found inside the car in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar area at 1am on Thursday.

"She was identified as Reena, a resident of Anand Vihar Colony in Uttam Nagar. Reena, who was pursuing a professional beautician course, was taken to DDU Hospital, where she was declared brought dead," a senior police officer said.

The police impounded the car and the owner was traced to Om Vihar in west Delhi. Omdutt, 28, was found absconding but the police managed to nab him.

"He confessed to the murder and said since he was already married, he couldn't marry Reena. He accepted that he was in an extra-marital affair with Reena for the past three years," the officer added.

Reena was aware that Omdutt was married but was forcing him to divorce to his first wife and marry her. Reena was also reportedly threatening Omdutt about informing his wife about their relationship. On Wednesday night, they decided to meet in Uttam Nagar and following a heated argument, he strangled her and fled from the spot.
