Singh had graduated from Khalsa College in 2010. “He had taken the entrance test and got the result,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity. He had scored 57% in BA (hons) Economics and had spent a year to prepare for the PG exam.

“A family member found him hanging and informed the police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead,” the officer added. No suicide note was recovered and police have taken the statement of the family members.

“Singh’s family members told us that he was in depression as he had worked hard for the exam,” the officer said.
