Man kills wife as she sells his taxi to pay debt

A 27-year-old man killed his wife on Monday night. He sat next to the body through the night and the next morning, called the police to confess.

A 27-year-old man killed his wife on Monday night. He sat next to the body through the night and the next morning, called the police to confess. The police said that the accused, identified as Wasudev Dubey, was angry with his wife after she sold his taxi to pay off their debts while he was is his hometown in Itawa, UP. The incident took place in GTB enclave area of northeast Delhi.

“He had returned on Saturday from Itawa and realised that his wife, Arti, had sold off his taxi. She told him that in his absence, the creditors who’d lent money to buy the taxi would come and harass her,” informed a senior police officer. The couple had gotten into a heated argument over this issue and on Monday night, Dubey strangulated his wife. Police said that they received a call at around 9:30 am on Tuesday from Dubey. “When we went there, Arti’s body was lying on the bed with. Dubey was present there and we arrested him,” the officer added.
