A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband in west Delhi’s Khyala on Sunday afternoon following an altercation.

Sources said Sarita Devi was stabbed at least six times around 3pm after she had a heated argument with her husband Dharmendra, whom she thought was having an extra marital affair.
The couple’s three children were in another room when the incident took place. Dharmendra is said to have fled the spot after the attack leaving his wife in a pool of blood.
Their children apparently did not have a clue that their mother had been stabbed. After Dharmendra fled, one of them entered the room to find Devi bleeding profusely and raised an alarm to alert the neighbours.
“We received a PCR call and sent a team to the spot immediately. The woman was immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead,” a police officer said.
According to the officer, the couple had been having a strained relationship for sometime as Devi had suspected Dharmendra of having an illicit affair with another woman.
The body of the woman has been sent for post-mortem, which would be performed on Monday, the officer said.
