The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has got the approval of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for constructing Mahila haat on terrace of multi-level underground car parking at Asaf Ali Road. All the products on display at the haat would also be made by women.

The haat to be built on the lines of Dilli Haat would be developed on approximately 6000 square meters of area.

“I have directed the commissioner to start the construction work should immediately so that work is completed before Commonwealth Games,” said Mayor Arti Mehra.

Costing about Rs 2 crore, all the stalls at the haat would exhibit and sell material relating to ladies such as household items required by them such as ornaments, furnishings, kitchen products, fabrics among others.

The haat would also have an open amphitheatre for more than 200 persons to watch activities performed by artists from different states of India.

The proposed haat would have three categories of stalls and would accommodate more than 500 persons at a time. Depending on the success of this project the civic body plans to build five such haats in the city.
