MCD gets Rs 1,500 crore

The cash-strapped Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday got a financial assistance of around Rs 1,500 crore from the Delhi Government to pay salaries to employees and other expenses.

The cash-strapped Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday got a financial assistance of around Rs 1,500 crore from the Delhi Government to pay salaries to employees and other expenses.

After a meeting with an MCD delegation led by Mayor Prithvi Raj Sawhney, Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia said Rs 500 crore will be loan which will have to be repaid in three years.

Out of Rs 1,000 crore, Walia said Rs 900 crore was being released for various projects being implemented by the agency while Rs 100 crore had been given as an extra grant for education and health.
