Mehra panel seeks public suggestions

The inquiry commission set up to probe whether police lapses were responsible for the December 16 gangrape on Friday requested the public to provide information about the horrific incident.

The inquiry commission set up to probe whether police lapses were responsible for the December 16 gangrape on Friday requested the public to provide information about the horrific incident.

"The commission of inquiry under the chairmanship of Justice (retired) Usha Mehra has requested the members of public to provide any information about the shocking incident..." an official statement said.

Information, suggestions and responses can be sent through email at: usha.mehracommission@nic.in or through fax at 011-23093750 by January 10.

Members of the public including jurists, legal professionals, NGOs, media persons and women's groups have been requested to suggest measures to improve the safety and security of women particularly in the NCR, the statement said.
