This stretch was scheduled to open before the Commonwealth Games.
But delays in acquiring land for extension of the project from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) led to work being halted.
The line is finally nearing completion and will be thrown open for public in June.
"The extension of Line 4 to Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh will be the second occasion when the Delhi Metro network will enter that state. This will benefit commuters from residential areas like Kaushambi and Vaishali," said a spokesperson of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Commuters from Ghaziabad city and Sahibabad Industrial area also stand to gain from the service, the spokesperson added.
According to GDA sources, the Metro will enter Ghaziabad in three phases.
While Phase 1 will connect Vaishali with Rajiv Chowk, Phase 2 will link Vaishali with Mehrauli through Indirapuram. Phase 3 will connect ISBT (Delhi) to Bus Stand, Ghaziabad.
