MHA orders transfer of 11 IAS officers

Even as the Prime Minister-appointed Shunglu Committee and Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) are yet to submit their reports on the Commonwealth Games, the Ministry of Home Affairs have transferred nine administrative and police services officers of union territory cadre out of Delhi on Friday.

The four Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officials who got their transfer orders include principal secretary of public works department, Kewal Kishore Sharma, principal secretary of transport, Rajani Kant Verma, commissioner of sales tax, Jalaj Shrivastava, and Delhi Jal Board chief executive officer Ramesh Negi.

The MHA said these officers had completed more than two years in their current offices and their transfer orders were expected to come anytime. “The fact that the transfer orders have come even when the inquiry into alleged corruption in the Commonwealth Games is still on, indicates that the government thinks these officers are clean,” a senior Delhi government officer, requesting anonymity.

While Sharma will join as advisor to Lieutenant Governor of Chandigarh, Verma has been moved to Goa, Shrivastava to Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Negi has been transferred to Arunachal Pradesh, sources said.

Delhi government has already moved some senior IAS officers from one office to another in the past one month. The MHA has also transferred additional commissioner of police (south east) Virendra Singh Chahal, and deputy commissioners of south, south west and east districts HGS Dhaliwal, Sharat Aggarwal and IB Rani respectively. “We have also got three IAS officers, Nutan Guha Biswas, Satyagopal and Ved Praklash who were posted outside Delhi. The government is yet to decide on their postings,” a senior Delhi government official said.
