The incident occurred in the terminal’s balcony at 4.05 p.m.

The terminal, which was the main domestic departure terminal of IGI Airport for almost half a century, was decommissioned in May this year and all airline operations were shifted to the new terminal 1D and terminal 1A.

The old terminal is now being
demolished.

Gas cutters were at work when some sparks flew leading to the minor fire. No one was injured.

The private airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd. plans to make a parking lot at the site.
