Mishap probe names guilty, Delhi Metro cracks down

At a press conference on Tuesday, DMRC managing director E Sreedharan said a four-member inquiry committee found that the cantilever design “had not adequately taken care of various forces”.
Sreedharan said a show-cause notice was being served on contractor Gammon India, which was carrying out the work at Zamrudpur accident site, on why it should not be blacklisted for two years.
DMRC also blacklisted Arch Consultancy Services, independent design consultants, for five years for submitting faulty designs.
Tandon Construction, independent structural consultants, were blacklisted for two years.
DMRC also issued a “major penalty chargesheet” to chief engineer (design) RK Kataria and suspended a deputy chief engineer (design) along with a deputy project manager.
