As many as 48 men were picked up for questioning by the police in the incident that took place on Saturday night.

Two young women, one of whom is a minor, were attacked with blades by motorcycle-borne men in Mangolpuri and Sultanpuri, between 8.20pm and 8.35pm on Saturday.

The incident prompted police to conduct raids in and around outer Delhi.

Importantly, one of the victims in the case was attacked in a similar fashion earlier, too, prompting the police to investigate if it's the handiwork of the same person.

This is not the first time that such an incident has happened in the outer Delhi area. On December 12 last year, a motorcycle-borne assailant attacked three women with blades in a span of 30 minutes. The women were all aged between 18 and 23 years and were attacked on the face with a sharp-edged weapon in different blocks of Mangolpuri in quick succession.
