The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights is in talks with the National Informatics Centre to come up with a web-based portal for its Right to Education Division, NCPCR Chairman Shantha Sinha told HT.

“We want the portal to be interactive, so that people who want to submit complaints can do so online, those who have complained should be able to monitor the status of their complaint online. …You should be able to look at the status of schools, states and complaints through the portal,” Sinha said.

Commission sources said the site should be up in the next two months and would include a child-friendly section. The official indicated that within a year of its going online, the portal would start adding other Indian languages. The NCPCR also has plans to start a toll-free national helpline to facilitate monitoring and implementation of its mandate under the RTE.
