More ICU beds for elderly
Keeping in view the health needs of the ageing population, health and family welfare minister AK Walia on Monday announced the addition of 10 intensive care unit (ICU) beds in all its hospitals.

Keeping in view the health needs of the ageing population, health and family welfare minister AK Walia on Monday announced the addition of 10 intensive care unit (ICU) beds in all its hospitals.
He said that Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in East Delhi would be the first to implement this initiative and other hospitals would follow suit.
The addittion of ICU beds was necessitated as there were 14 lakh senior citizens in Delhi and their proportion has risen from 7.7% to 8.14% of the total population of the city, he said.
