Olympic medallist Vijender Singh can heave a sigh of relief after the sports ministry announced on Tuesday that the boxer's samples tested negative. He was alleged to have consumed recreational drugs with sparring partner Ram Singh. The Beijing Olympics bronze medallist had submitted his blood and urine samples along with four other boxers to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). “The ministry of youth affairs and sports is glad to announce that on the basis of these tests none of the boxers were found to have used any banned substances in the recent past,” said the ministry release.

New Delhi: Indian junior boxers made a resounding start to their campaign at the Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships at Shymkent in Kazakhstan with Prayag Chauhan and Aditya Maan making it to the medal rounds in 66kg class on the opening day. New Delhi: Raj Singh, secretary general of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has been elected as secretary general of Asian Associated Wrestling Council (AAWC) in the general assembly of AAWC held in the Capital on Tuesday. Tickets will be available at Gate No 7 from 11am to 4pm.
