: A doctor in Integrated Medical Sciences. He interned with Dr AK Walia, Delhi’s finance minister. education: Bachelor of Integrated Medical Sciences from Gandhi Ajmal Khan Medical College, Delhi.

Political Career: Joined active politics in 1971. Was general secretary of Shahdara Block Congress Committee up to 1977 and Leader of Opposition in MCD in 1997-1998. Was Delhi Congress Vice-President during 1995-2004. Elected MLA in 1998, he was minister of education, power, tourism and languages in the Delhi government. He has never lost an election. Also chairman of Trans Yamuna Development Board. Nath says all roads in his constituency are in good condition thanks to dense carpeting.

Family: Wife Shashi Kanta is a doctor and so is the eldest of their four daughters.

Cars: Nath swears by his Maruti 800, which he claims is the only car the family has.
