Nation remembers Vallabhbhai Patel

Prime Minister Manmohan led the nation in remembering Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 134th birth anniversary by paying homage to him at a function in Parliament's Central Hall.

Prime Minister Manmohan on Saturday led the nation in remembering Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 134th birth anniversary by paying homage to him at a function in Parliament's Central Hall.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Leader of Opposition L K Advani and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi also joined in paying floral tributes before the portrait of India's first Home Minister in the Central hall.

A book containing the profile of Sardar Patel was also presented to the dignitaries in the function.

Sardar Patel's portrait was unveiled in the Central Hall on April 23, 1958 by first President Rajendra Prasad.
