Nationwide security alert after IM threat

Sources said the Intelligence Bureau had asked all police chiefs to review security measures in light of the IM threat, soon after two men on a motorcycle fired at tourists outside Jama Masjid in Delhi.

The message — sent to all states except the northeastern states — referred to the IM email, that challenged the government to go ahead with the Games.
In the Capital, sources said the Home Ministry had already instructed Delhi Police to ramp up security after Sunday's attack.

Government sources said nearly one lakh policemen will be deployed in the Capital for the next one month, including 175 companies of central paramilitary personnel.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) director general Vikram Srivastava, who launched a new attire for CRPF personnel deployed on CWG security duties said, “The first attempt is to prevent such an incident. If they do manage (to carry out such incidents), they should not be able to escape,” he said.
