The opposition is going to take up the state of the economy and "policy paralysis". They will also take up controversies surrounding the army. In the last few months, the alliance has repeatedly accused the government of "lack of statecraft" in the management of civil-military ties.
With recent abductions by Maoists in Orissa and Chhattisgarh, the Naxal problem is also bound to crop up. Though it is a BJP-led Chhattisgarh government that is mandated to maintain law and order there, the party will assert that Naxalism is an inter-state problem calling for wider central initiative.
The NDA will also take up the controversy surrounding Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi that led him resign from a parliamentary panel and as party spokesperson. "This is a serious matter... I hope Parliament will get an explanation from him...," BJP leader Arun Jaitley said. Jaitley is understood to have met vice president Hamid Ansari and told him that the Singhvi CD issue will be taken up in the Rajya Sabha.
