Police said the newborn baby was abducted by a woman who, on the pretext of offering milk to him, took her out of the general ward and fled.

The police said the baby’s mother was Sushma Trivedi (25), a resident of Sector 63 in Noida.

Police said she was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday evening when she went into labour.

“She was admitted to the labor ward on Saturday evening and she delivered a baby boy. On Sunday morning, she was shifted to
the general ward,” a police officer said.

Police said the baby started crying and the accused, who was sitting on another bed, offered to give milk to the baby.

“She took the baby and started doing rounds of the ward. Then she fled,” said the officer.

Trivedi raised an alarm and called the police when the woman did not return for a long time.

A case of abduction was registered. Police are examining the CCTV footage of the hospital. The footage will be show to Trivedi for identification.
