New York-based institute honours Kapil Sibal

HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has been conferred the 'Stephen P Duggan Award for mutual understanding' by a New York-based institute for his support towards fostering global collaboration in education.

HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has been conferred the 'Stephen P Duggan Award for mutual understanding' by a New York-based institute for his support towards fostering global collaboration in education.

The award, presented by the board of trustees of the Institute of International Education on Tuesday, is presented to world leaders in the field of government, education and diplomacy, said officials in the Human Resource and Development Ministry.

They said the trustees particularly appreciated Sibal's commitment to internationalise higher education in the country.

Some of the past recipients of the Duggan award include former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former French President Valery Giscard d'Estaing among others.
