NIA filed FIR against Ansari before he was arrested

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had registered a case against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal even before he was sent to India from Saudi Arabia.

The case pertains to the larger LeT conspiracy to destabilise India with terror activities. Ansari's associate Fayaz Kagzi is also an accused in the case.

Both Ansari and Kagzi are co-accused in the Aurangabad arms haul (May, 2006) and the Ahmedabad railway station blast case (February, 2006). Kagzi and Ansari fled to Pakistan immediately after a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered in Aurangabad.

According to home ministry sources, after Delhi police, the NIA will seek custody of Ansari in connection with the FIR registered by it almost a month back. The Delhi police have arrested Ansari in connection with FIR no. 54 of 2011 registered against Indian Mujahideen operatives of Yasin Bhatkal’s module.

Interestingly, in its chargesheet, in the 26/11 attacks, Mumbai police have not mentioned any accused by the name of Abu Jundal. Sources also clarified that India at the moment is not going to share any detail of interrogation of Zabiuddin Ansari Pakistan.

Ansari's interrogation is making it quite clear that Pakistani state actors were involved in the 26/11. He was issued to two Pakistani identity cards-one external identity card in English and another domestic card in Urdu by Pak authorities.
