'No need to narrate every cruel incident'

A couple of incidents of cruelty by the spouse may be sufficient ground for divorce, the Delhi High Court (HC) has ruled, while allowing the plea by a woman who has been living separately for 21 years. HT reports.

A couple of incidents of cruelty by the spouse may be sufficient ground for divorce, the Delhi High Court (HC) has ruled, while allowing the plea by a woman who has been living separately for 21 years.

The court observed that it is not necessary to narrate each incident of harassment to prove mental or physical cruelty to get divorce.

"It is not necessary for the party to narrate each incident to constitute such conducts as cruelty," Justice Aruna Suresh said.

The court said, "The matrimonial bond between the parties has been ruptured beyond repair because of mental and physical cruelty caused by the estranged husband."
