Nodal officers for medical care for poor
The Delhi High Court has directed the government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) to appoint nodal officers in all its hospitals for urgent medical treatment to the poor and give it adequate publicity.

The order came from Justice S Muralidhar, on a petition filed by an NGO, 'Sudinalay', seeking direction to the government for treatment of a homeless person (Naresh), who was bedridden due to neurological disorders. The court had, on January 14, asked the NCT government to provide emergency medical treatment to Naresh, but he could not be saved.
The court directed Delhi health secretary to issue instructions to medical superintendents of all hospitals and in-charges of night shelters within two weeks. It asked him to upload his directions on government website and publicise it adequately.
