The traffic police slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 on each of the 1,321 drunk motorists.

During the past eight days, at least 50 areas in Delhi were covered every day. Besides, traffic police teams caught drunk drivers from outside all major watering holes in the city,” said police.

“The maximum prosecution took place in western parts of the city followed by south Delhi,” said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).

This year, maximum drunk drivers caught were bike-borne — almost two times of those who were driving cars, Garg said.

A total of 827 two-wheeler drivers were slapped with a fine, while 475 drunk drivers caught were driving cars, he said.
