The high court-appointed Nodal Steering Committee had recently directed the deputy commissioners of the South Corporation to seal unauthorised parts of buildings and disconnect water and electricity services. The committee said that the number of letters sent so far has been dissatisfactory.

Leader of the House Subhash Arya said that by paying a penalty, property owners in the city can get their unauthorised constructions regularised. This could be done if they meet the parameters set up by the corporation.

“They must contact the zonal offices and get details of how to get buildings and unauthorised constructions regularised. That way the owners can avoid prosecution and the corporation can earn revenue through collection of penalty," he said.
