PM condoles Ali Akbar Khan's death

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday condoled the death of legendry sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, describing him as "a colossus who strode the world of Hindustani classical music."

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday condoled the death of legendry sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, describing him as "a colossus who strode the world of Hindustani classical music."

In his condolence message, the prime minister said Khan was one of the most accomplished Indian classical musicians of his generation.

"A colossus who strode the world of Hindustani classical music for over five decades, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan worked towards making Indian music popular around the world," he added.
