Opposition parties flayed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Independence Day speech on Wednesday, calling it uninspiring.

“PM's speech was completely listless and a speech which did not instill any new confidence in the nation," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said. "The speech just mentioned but did not give any direction on the issues the nation is facing — inflation, corruption, slowing economy, monsoon deficit."

CPM's Nilotpal Basu said the PM had not said anything new.

Member of the now disbanded Team Anna Kiran Bedi said, “The PM says we have passed Lokpal Bill. Does not say what kind of Bill? One which weakens CBI further.”
