PM to meet Indian medal winners

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet the Commonwealth Games Indian medal winners today, an official said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet the Commonwealth Games Indian medal winners on Friday, an official said.

"The prime minister will meet the medalists at his residence - 7 Race Course Road - at 5 pm" an official in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said.

"Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi, Sports Minister MS Gill and other sports officials are also likely to accompany the athletes," he added.

India made a record haul of 101 medals in the mega-sporting event, including 38 gold, 27 silver and 36 bronze. India were in the second place, behind Australia which bagged 74 gold, 55 silver and 48 bronze medals.

The Games concluded with a glittering ceremony on Thursday night.
