Poor to get 12 subsidised cylinders

This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Sheila Dikshit as part of the 'kerosene-free programme' of the state government.

According to the officials, three more subsidised cylinders from the present nine would be given to BPL, Antyodya and Jhuggi Ration Card (JRC) beneficiaries.

The decision comes days after the Centre increased the number of subsidised cylinders from six to nine.

"The government would bear the cost of subsidy, which is R350 per cylinder, to meet the difference of cost between non-subsidised and subsidised cylinders," said a senior Delhi government official.

The Delhi government had in November decided to provide nine subsidised LPG cylinders annually to around 3.56 lakh poor families identified under Kerosene-free Delhi scheme.
