President prorogues Parliament

President Pratibha Patil has prorogued Parliament after the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die earlier this month at the end of the Budget session.

President Pratibha Patil has prorogued Parliament after the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die earlier this month at the end of the Budget session.

"The Lok Sabha which commenced its Tenth Session on the March 12, 2012 has been prorogued by the President on the May 28, 2012," a Lok Sabha secretariat statement said.

A similar statement by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said the Rajya Sabha was prorogued by the President on May 28 after it was adjourned sine die on May 22.

The 10th session of the Lok Sabha had also concluded on May 22.
