Pugilist, five others held for murder

A junior boxing champion along with five others including a minor, were arrested for the murder of a 20-year-old boy from Paschim Vihar's Mianwali colony on Monday.

A junior boxing champion along with five others including a minor, were arrested for the murder of a 20-year-old boy from Paschim Vihar's Mianwali colony on Monday.

"Dinesh Patel (20) was stabbed to death by a group in a park in Mianwali Nagar, as he was friends with the sister of one of the accused," said a senior police officer.

The accused have been identified as Abhinav Verma (21), a junior boxing champion, Rakesh Mukhi (21), Manish (20), Deepak (21), Manoj (22) and a minor were apprehended.

"We got a tip-off that the accused would assemble near Najafgarh Road in Nangloi. We were able to arrest them within 24 hours of the murder. They had an argument with Patel earlier too," the officer added.
