Though the sky was overcast from early morning, the showers began at 8:45 am during the peak morning rush hours. The city received 4.9 mm of rains for a period of 24 hours till 8:30 am on Thursday.

Many people were seen taking shelter below flyovers and bus stops across the city. Many scooterists parked their two-wheelers below the flyover resulting in shrinking of road space for vehicular movement.

Vehicular movement was slow on many of the busy stretches like Vikas Marg, Connaught Place, AIIMS, IIT, Outer Ring Road.

Traffic movement was also slow on Badarpur Border, Azad Market and Kishan Ganj Railway crossing due to water logging.

The movement of vehicles was also affected due to break down of vehicles on Shivaji Park-Punjabi Bagh, Janakpuri-Dhaula Kuan, Hanuman Setu-ISBT, Mukarba Chowk-Bye Pass, Chandki Ram Akhra-Wazirabad, Wazirabad Bridge-Khajuri and Mehrauli-Mahipalpur routes.

Heavy rains had lashed the capital city last evening leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls in several areas.
