The Coordination Committee in Defense of Animals held a pro-animal rally at Jantar Mantar today.

The rally was to support the canine birth control programme and to focus on issues such as the need for strong and effective action against illegal slaughterhouses, strict implementation of cattle/livestock transport rules and against those who assault or intimidate people taking care of stray animals.
Writer Rukumini Sekhar said, “The animal movement is a budding movement and we must strengthen it. Animals should not be removed for the sake of Commonwealth games. They should instead intensify animal birth control.”
Slogans such as “jab tak hum rahengey kutey nahi hatengay” were also raised.
People held banners with slogans such as “Unseen they suffer, unheard they cry, in agony they linger, in silence they die.”
Prominent bands such as Bandish and Menopause also sang to spread awareness about animal rights.
Students and teachers, along with animal lovers from different age groups took part in the rally.
