But the scene at Yadav’s office in Sector 14 turned gloomy this Wednesday when he didn’t show up at the hearing, leaving many RTI applicants disappointed.

“I travelled for two-and-a-half hours to reach here. They should have at least informed that the hearing had been postponed,” said Akanksha (name changed on request), a government employee.

Gaurav Batra, who left his office early to attend the hearing, said, “I have been fighting for the possession of my plot for the past seven years. Is this the way consumers are treated at Huda office?”

Another allottee, who, unlike others, stayed calm and shrugged it off by saying that he had a small issue of repayment. “Huda owes to me around R5 lakh as the area, which the agency promised was more than what I actually got. I filed an RTI application at the office of the estate officer, but didn’t get any reply even after a month. So, I approached the appellate authority.”

A Huda official said, “RTI applicants couldn’t be informed as the telephone at the administrator’s office was out of order. In case of postponement or cancellation of appeals, the allottees are generally informed.”
