Two speeding cars in Lajpat Nagar, Sahibabad, led to the death of a 28-year-old man and caused injuries to three people on Thursday.

Police said two cars — a Honda City and a Scorpio — were speeding on the road near Ram Manohar Lohiya Park in Sahibabad. One of them was trying to over-take the other at a high speed when Honey Gupta, who was driving the Honda City car, rammed a rickshaw, said the police. Four people were on the rickshaw, including a woman.
Gupta, a resident of Sector-2 in Rajendra Nagar, was arrested.
The injured — Noor Jahan (40), Bacchan Paswan (28), Gautam Kumar (18) and Vinay Kumar (28) — were admitted to Ambey Hospital where Vinay Kumar succumbed to injuries. Kumar was crushed under the wheels of the car and had sustained serious injuries, police said.
"Gupta is an LLB student in Noida and was arrested on charges of negligent driving. We have also seized the car which belongs to Gupta's father who is a builder," Circle Officer (Border) Satpal Singh said.
