Profession: Apart from politics, he continues to be the principal of Brahmpuri Public Senior Secondary School, which he joined in 1973.

Education: He has two Masters degree — English and Hindi from Meerut University. He also has a Bachelor in Education and a Law degree. “Among the 70 legislators in present assembly, I am academically the most qualified,” he proudly said.

Political Career: He joined BJP in 1980. He has won three consecutive assembly elections — in 1993, 19998 and 2003.

Family: Wife Indrawati Singh is a homemaker. They have two daughters and three sons. “Nobody in my family is interested in politics. I also never forced my sons,” he said. Chauhan loves to read books on astrology and palmistry. “I am a self taught astrologer and palmist. It is just a hobby. People close to me who know about this often come to me to show their janam patri,” he said.

Cars: Chauhan has a white Ambassador. His sons drive a Tata Safari and a Maruti Zen.
