Doctors treating him at Chandigarh's PGIMER have said that his condition is now extremely critical.

52-year-old Sanaullah Haq, a resident of Sialkot in Pakistan, was serving a life term after being convicted under TADA provisions following his arrest in 1999.

He was injured during a scuffle with another inmate in high-security Kot Bhalwal jail and was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Hospital and later rushed to PGIMER in Chandigarh in an air ambulance after doctors said his condition was critical.

Sanaullah's family reached India on Tuesday via Wagah border and requested his release based on 'humanitarian grounds'.
