Due to VVIP movement, both the carriageways of Sardar Patel Marg will remain closed from Panchsheel Marg up to Dhaula Kuan from Sunday afternoon till Monday. The restrictions will be in place in view of the state visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang - the first by a Chinese Premier after the change of guard in Beijing.

"No traffic will be allowed on this stretch," said Anil Shukla, additional CP (traffic). However, those headed to Dhaula Kuan or airport can use the Ring Road and Vande Mataram Marg.

"We will ensure smooth flow of traffic on roads such as Ring Road from Dhaula Kuan to AIIMS, Aurobindo Marg, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, Purana Qila Road, C-Hexagon, Ashoka Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Park Street, roundabout of Shankar Road and Upper Ridge Road up to Dhaula Kuan," said Shukla.

However, residents of nearby areas or those who have their offices at Sardar Patel Marg, Army Battle Honours Marg, Abhai Marg and Manas Marg will be allowed to go after proper verification.

Also on Monday, traffic is expected to be heavy in New Delhi areas. In the morning hours, traffic will be heavy at Ring Road and Mathura road.

"Those coming from East Delhi and going to South can take the Barapullah elevated road. And commuters from North Delhi on the Ring Road and headed to New Delhi and Central Delhi are advised to use Geeta Colony flyover or Nishad Raj Marg, Netaji Subash Marg, JLN Marg and Minto Road to reach their destinations," Shukla advised.

Race Course Metro station will also remain closed for public from 7pm to 9pm on Sunday, as per police instructions.
