The sealing squad of MCD's Central zone took action on four commercial units, including a jewellery shop, office of a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), for alleged non-payment of conversion charges within the stipulated time frame.

The building department of Central zone carried out the sealing drive on notified roads in Lajpat Nagar area. It is mandatory for those running commercial units on roads notified as commercial or mixed-land use to pay annual conversion charges to the MCD.

"Two jewellery shops, a medical shop, and an NGO office were sealed by us for not paying conversion charges which is mandatory," said a senior MCD official.

The civic agency said that it will continue to take action on such commercial establishments. HTC
