However, teachers feel this eagerness often works against the students. They say the students end up making mistakes that could result in loss of marks. "Students more often than not do not read questions properly. They are so eager to finish, that they often miss what exactly is asked in the question," said SL Jain, principal of Mahavir Jain Senior Secondary School.

Among other things that a student should keep in mind is how best to answer a question.

LV Sehgal, principal, Bal Bharti School, Gangaram Marg, advised students to ensure that they write the correct question numbers and their answers should be proportionate to the question.
