The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the case, recorded the witness statement of Rehana in Jodhpur earlier this month. The statement has also been submitted in court.

According to the agency officials, Rehana said Shahbuddin had told her that he was acting on the instruction of absconding accused Sahi Ram Bishnoi.

“He had handed over Bhanwari to a gang travelling in a green Scorpio car, which has been recovered,” an official said. The men in the car were aides of Bishna Bishnoi, a history sheeter.

Shahbuddin and two other accused, Sohanlal Bishnoi and Baldev, have been arrested by the agency for their alleged involvement in Bhanwari’s abduction and murder. The agency has also recorded two other witness testimonies that would strengthen its case against the men.
