Sheila says no to tax-cut for DIAL

Dikshit inaugurated IGI Airport’s new Domestic Departure Terminal 1D on Thursday, along with Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. “I went back feeling despondent when I had visited the airport a couple of months back. But Hafeez Contractor has built a world class terminal,” she said. “It’s a first class, aesthetically done and huge complex,” she said while referring to the new terminal.

Dikshit also said airport developer Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) has got the Delhi government’s support and have been asking for more support. “The moment our finances become better, yours would become even better,” she said.

Talking later to HT, Dikshit said that DIAL has been requesting some VAT removals but declined details.

She said DIAL has already planned a high-speed Metro link from the airport to the city centre but the government is willing to help if they require more transport systems to connect the airport to the city.

She said the face of public transport is changing in the city and DIAL can ask government for anything they can do in the transport sector. “We can design something unique that would be both efficient and aesthetic,” she said.
