Sonia Gandhi headed to US for medical check-up

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will shortly travel abroad for a routine medical check-up, a senior party leader said today.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will shortly travel abroad for a routine medical check-up, a senior party leader said on Sunday.

"Her travel abroad for medical check-up is due," he said, adding that schedule had been worked out much earlier.

The leader said Gandhi’s visit was unrelated to the August 26 incident when she felt uneasy in the Lok Sabha during voting on the UPA’s ambitious food security bill.

Gandhi had undergone a successful surgery abroad for an undisclosed ailment in August 2012.
