Sonia, Rahul, PM to join campaign

PM, Congress president and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi will address public meetings across Gujarat starting later this week.

Sonia has rallies scheduled at Navsari and Rajkot on December 1 and will return to the state again on December 4. The Prime Minister is expected to campaign between December 5 and 7 in Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda and Rajkot. Sources said he will make a special effort to court the business community in a bid to break the BJP's hold on urban voters.

Rahul's detailed programme is yet to be finalised. His presence is expected to help the Congress attract the younger voters in the state.

The Congress hopes to gain from the fissures in the BJP and the anti-incumbency against Modi. It is "satisfied" that it has managed to accommodate the BJP rebels and project a united front with its allies by giving them some seats.
