Passengers heading into NCR towns from Delhi railway stations and airport can look forward to an easy and economic ride home.

By April 15, prepaid taxis and autos will begin operating from the New Delhi, Old Delhi, Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar railway stations and both the domestic and international terminals of IGI airport to NCR towns.
In the latest round of revision of prepaid fares for taxis and autorickshaws, the Delhi Police also introduced slabs for Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad.
"When this is notified in a few days, autos can ferry passengers to NCR towns," said Anil Shukla, additional commissioner of police (traffic).
At present, prepaid autos and taxis leave passengers at the states' borders.
Once the notification is issued, around 7,000 more autos - given permits to ply in NCR - will be allowed on the roads. More such permits will be given in the coming days, transport department sources said.
The traffic police claim things will improve at New Delhi railway station's Ajmeri Gate side as well. Two prepaid booths have been moved closer to the station building.
Railway authorities, on the advice of the traffic police, have marked separate lanes for vehicles. Of the seven lanes, one will be for emergency vehicles, two for prepaid taxis, three for prepaid autos and one for private vehicles.
