Springdales, Dhaula Kuan, celebrates its Annual Day

Students of Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, presented a ballet ‘Immortal Delhi’, a fusion of music and dance performance to mark the completion of 100 years of Delhi as the national Capital. HT reports.

Students of Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, presented a ballet ‘Immortal Delhi’, a fusion of music and dance performance to mark the completion of 100 years of Delhi as the national Capital. They showcased different eras of the city — Mughal, Imperial and Contemporary. Chief minister Sheila Dikshit was the chief guest on the occasion. Olga Chamero Trias, ambassador of Cuba (retd), presented awards to meritorious students from the middle and senior secondary school for excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.

Principal Dr Jyoti Bose presented the school’s annual report, highlighting its achievements in 2010-11 in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Rajni Kumar, chairperson of Springdales Education Society.

St. George’s, Alaknanda, celebrated its annual day ‘Gurudev Naman’, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.

The programmes included cultural and audio-visual shows. An exhibition, depicting the life and work of the great litrateaur, was also organised. The tunes and lyrics of ‘Rabindra Sangeet’ reverberated the air. The school wore a festive look with life-size murals, multi-hued classrooms decorated with Tagore’s paintings and other artwork, bringing to life the erstwhile era.

Escorted by principal Dr Sara George, the function was inaugurated by Anita Setia, DDE, Govt. of Delhi. Setia, the chief guest, said all round development did not depend on rote learning as said by Tagore. The message of chairman MG Muthoot was read out by George M George Muthoot. Dr Sara George presented the school’s annual report, highlighting the performance of its students. A multi-cuisine food festival also formed part of the event.

Venkatewshwar International School at Sector 10, Dwarka, celebrated its annual day. Chairman Shri Rajpal and principal Mrinalini Kaura welcomed the chief guest, Vineet Joshi, chairman of CBSE. Joshi also presented prizes to the meritorious students of the school.

The highlight of the event was a play — ‘The Legend of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’ — saluting the freedom fighters. The annual report was presented by the principal, who highlighted the achievements of the school in sports, cultural and literary activities.
